CPAT:
Today the Intro Class had the opportunity to learn about the CPAT (Candidate Physical Ability Test). Most fire departments use the CPAT or some variation in their new hire testing procedure. The CPAT is a 8 station timed test that a candidate must complete in under 10 minutes 20 seconds. The stations are as follows: 1. Stair Climb (3 minutes) 2. Hose Drag 3. Forcible Entry 4. Equipment Carry 5. Ladder Raise 6. Maze 7. Victim Rescue 8. Push/Pull Simulation. All of the students in the class attempted each event. Several students attempted the entire CPAT course. Two students, Jordan Austin (9:01) and Tre Wright (8:43) completed the mock CPAT in under the 10:20 mark.
