Introduction to Firefighting
Introduction to Firefighting is the beginning course in the CTC Firefighting Program. 10th grade students attend the class every other day for one semester. During the Introduction to Firefighting class, students are taught the history of the fire service, introduced to career opportunities in the fire service, and exposed to basic firefighter terminology. Students learn how to properly wear firefighting personal protective equipment and use self contained breathing apparatus (SCBA). Students are offered the opportunity to earn certifications in NIMS ICS-100 and First Aid/CPR/AED through the American Red Cross.
